UK Broadband speeds - slower than expected
In a survey undertaken by Computer Active magazine, 3000 of their readrs performed over 100,000 speed tests, and results show (unsuprisingly) that 62% routinely received less than half of the top speed advertised by their provider.

Given that the "upto 8mb" speeds are theoretical maximums and presume you practically live in the exchange this is not that much of a suprise really.

What is does highlight is that ISP`s need to be more upfront and honest in their advertising as to what speeds a line can actually get and also perhaps drop the 8mb/24mb claims all together! But thats upto the ASA to decide.
